The Toyota Taisor, based on the Fronx platform, is the newest addition to the Maruti-Toyota collaboration. It is available in five broad trims and we have already provided an overview of its mid-spec S+ variant, along with its entry-level variants. If you are considering the Taisor’s G variant, which is a step above the S+, we will explain to you what it offers, in this read.
The design of the G variant is identical to that of the lower-end (S+) trims, featuring a blacked-out honeycomb grille and a chrome strip connecting the LED DRLs. However, with the G variant you get multi-reflector LED for the headlights that are automatic and include a follow-me-home function.
Moving on to the profile, the G variant highlights a silver strip running across the Taisor’s window line, a design element you won’t get even with the mid-spec S+ variant. Additionally, silver accents on the side body cladding and black-finished 16-inch alloy wheels enhance the sporty appearance of the car.

A noticeable change at the rear of the G variant compared to the Taisor's entry-level variants is the addition of a rear wiper, washer and the connected LED tail lights., It also features a roof-end spoiler and shark-fin antenna, completing its design.
Stepping inside, the G variant showcases dual-tone black/maroon seat upholstery paired with an all-black dashboard. Its dashboard layout mirrors that of the Fronx, except for the fact that it gets Toyota badging. The G variant also features chrome accents on the inside of door handles but lacks the leather-wrapped steering wheel, which is available only with the top-spec V variant.
However, it does get a height adjustable driver seat and a sliding central armrest along with storage inside it, increasing the comfort and practicality aspect of this variant.
The G variant features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, 6-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, cruise control, a multi-info TFT display, type-C charging ports, connected car tech and keyless entry with push button start/stop. Additionally, equipment like type A and type C charging ports, footwell lighting, rear AC vents and connected car technology are also offered from this variant onwards.
Safety features include, six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear camera with parking sensors, electronic stability control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The G variant misses out on a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 360-degree camera system, cruise control and heads-up display over the top-spec V variant.
When it comes to engine choices, with the G variant you are limited to the 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Lower variants provide you with the option of an 89 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed automatic. Although, they don’t get paddle shifters, which is something available from the G variant onwards.
Prices for the Taisor G variant range between Rs 10.55 lakh and 11.95 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the transmission option you choose. Apart from the Maruti Fronx, the Taisor locks horns with sub-4 metre SUVs such as the Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
